Ken & Carolyn Goodnight founded California RV Rentals out of their home in 1987 with one Class C motorhome. "Travel the West Once Again" was taken up as the company's theme as they dedicated their fleet to serve the Western States. By 1990 the fleet had grown and what had become a secondary source of income had turned into a full time business. In 1991, with their fleet of 12 units, they moved into their first commercial location shared with Brawleys RV in Modesto. With the fleet exceeding 50 units and the company requiring a large shop, they moved into their current location on N. 9th Street in 2000.
In 2006, California RV Rentals partnered with El Monte Motorhome Rentals to provide our customers the opportunity to travel across the country as well as Canada. To round out our vehicle rental services, Penske Trucks were added in 2006 and Hertz Cars in 2010.
California RV Rentals has been the largest RV Rental Company in California's Central Valley for nearly 20 years. We can directly attribute this exciting growth to our hard earned reputation of cleanliness, friendliness, and true value.
Our theme “Travel the West Once Again” is based upon a charismatic relative from the Wild West era. His name was Charles Goodnight. A Texas cattle baron who designed the original Chuckwagon used on cattle drives which were derived from surplus military supply wagons left over from the Civil War. He also blazed the infamous Goodnight-Loving cattle trail from Texas thru New Mexico and up into Colorado. He truely traveled the West.
Today we still travel the West but with a great deal more comfort than back on those dusty cattle trails. These modern-day Chuckwagons have it all. You just provide the fun and excitement! So come “Travel the West Once Again!”
